I had an absolutely horrible experience yesterday when I went to see Fanny!! I might talk about it more in another message, when I don't feel sick talking about it. Fanny and I are "fine". The incident involves the boldness of a total stranger.

Because of what happened yesterday, I am once again contemplating moving Fanny to where I took some Parelli training last spring. It is all so confusing to my wee bit of a brain. Despite not being totally gung-ho on Parelli, I love ...

Was just thinking of this. Us horse people are so trendy at using stuff from the dollar store or giving things a second life. What are your tips and tricks? Here are some of mine.

Hoof blackener: liquid shoe polish. Apply hairspray over the hoof after

for shine and buff with a cloth. Doesn't dry out feet like others,

doesn't come off as easily yet it's usually off by the next morning.

Baling

twine cutter: Another piece of baling twine. I often forget my

leatherman. Fold the other ...

It's been really mild and when I ride my horses get really sweaty and wet. Even sticking to old Pony Club rules and walking the last half mile, when I take the saddle off Dancing particularly is sodden and steaming under it. Now, I get the hose and wash them off even in winter, my reasoning being that they are already soaking wet and warm enough to get themselves dry when I turn them out, and surely they would be more comfortable wet with clean water than sticky sweat? What do you think/do? Mine ...

Grass founder

A bit I wrote a year ago. I thought I would post it right now because of the winter frost setting in it is a dangerous time for foundered/prone to founder horses. I hope someone can benefit from it.

BCS= Body condition score.

If theres any other words in here you would like to know please feel free to ask.

Whenever I copy/paste something out of word it messes up the format so excuse bad paragraphing.

Evolution VS Management: Stablekeeping

An interesting topic I reviewed when I found some of my university files is stablekeeping and nature (the way it was intended) vs nurture (the way we make them)

Which one does your horse fit into? Which one do you agree with and don't agree with? Discuss, I wanna hear more than my input on the idea.

My horses fit into the turned out 24/7 on pasture. They come into the barnyard at night but they have access to shelter anytime. We supplement their diet with hay and a little grain for extra ...
