Many of you probably have had to let a horse go over the great rainbow bridge.

It still hurts to think or talk about it but I had to euthanise my old mare, Naigen today. She got a twisted bowel and there was nothing at her age that we could do.

Someone once said to me, the most lonely feeling in the world is having to eithanise a horse. I couldn't agree more.

I usually don't have to work on Thursdays but I am glad I did today. The poor old girl would have waited longer if I hadn't ...

Just going to throw this out to all of you and see what kind of answers I get.

Hypothetically speaking... ...if you had a horse that became VERY attached to another horse, so much so that said horse can only be ridden by the owner in the field with the other horse, would you keep them together, or separate them? Can a horse bond "too much" with another horse? This same horse, hypothetically speaking, has severe separation anxiety when the other horse leaves the paddock to be ridden ...

I recently found out that my horse is gaited, I am not very familiar with gaited horses and we don't get a lot of them around here, I always called it his funny trot.

He does the foxtrot and flatwalk. Since finding out what gait it was (it was very fast- 15 mph) I have managed to slow him down a lot and we are actually getting a decent gait now.

I ride him treeless and bitless, but find it a bit difficult to sit his foxtrot when out hacking sometimes, as he does like to go fast! Still working ...

Hey all,

I was in contact with the Canadian Cowboys Mounted Shooters as I was quite interested in joining because they allow Bitless in competition. Unfortunately, they are based out of Alberta and with me in Saskatchewan, I am at a disadvantage to join.

Well, I got an email yesterday from the club and there is going to be a clinic on Saturday right in my area! Sooo excited! Unfortunately, I don't have a horse ready as the one that I would use is going to go for training in June. ...

I started riding lessons again this morning, with a new trainer, Jason. He came highly recommended by a friend of mine. When she was about to give up hope that one of her horses was ever going to accept a saddle and rider, he saved the day. I had booked Fanny in for training next spring, and since Jason also gives riding lessons, I thought it would be good to take lessons from him as well.

I was very pleased with his riding philosophy. He says that we should use our voice, seat and legs ...

Now I'm inspired My horse is kept near a village that is reportedly the most haunted in England. I'm now tempted to dress up and stick a 'head' under my arm and ride round after dark on the 31st wailing However we are supposed to be having people round for drinks that night so that might put paid to that!

A pair of brand new, shiny tall boots. They are SOOOO STIFF!!

I was finally able to find a pair that fit my large feet and small calf.

They are SUPER stiff. I had to climb up on a hay wagon last night to get on Indigo (whos only 15.3)

They were also slippery against the saddle when I cantered.

Anyone got any tips on something to un stiffen them and break them in quicker? I can still feel the creases in my legs from last night.
