Halloween Horses

Just browsing and found some pictures of horses and riders dressed up for Hallowe'en. There are some really comical ones:

Now I'm inspired My horse is kept near a village that is reportedly the most haunted in England. I'm now tempted to dress up and stick a 'head' under my arm and ride round after dark on the 31st wailing However we are supposed to be having people round for drinks that night so that might put paid to that!

Any other good Hallowe'en costume ideas?

lol I love the tiger and the rainbow pony.

I've done my pony as a sheep before. It was really cute. He didn't appreciate the fluff covered halter.
I've also done reindeer, a pig, a skelle-horse (painted bones on a liver chestnut horse) spiderweb (horse) and fly (rider) Hot dog, pumpkin and headless horseman.

Non costume related but fun for the horses: Every year after Halloween I put my old carved pumpkins in the barnyard. The horses gobble them up like they are candy. Indigo usually has an orange muzzle for a day or two afterwards.

Lol fantastic! I haven't tried feeding pumpkins... will give that a go this year. Maybe filled with apples

Well I've got three other people professing interest in the spooky ride... I think I'm going to be Death - nice and easy to do, skull mask, black cloak and hood and a scythe! Going to look for some glow in the dark (non toxic) spray for the Z mane and tail.

Hoping to coincide with the time the kids are out trick or treating...

What colour is he? You should paint bones on him if hes dark with white tempra paint. We paint the horses for parades all the time with it and it washes off easily.

Bright bay... that's him in the pic. Not an ideal colour for Death's horse...! But if I do a big enough cloak for myself it will cover most of his backside, also I'll do some jagged black fabric to hang from his reins. Then I can try some 'makeup' on the bits that show like his head and neck

We'll be going out in twilight (street lit streets only and like bike lights front and back) so hopefully that will do some of the work for us!

When we have to do carriage drives at night in town for Christmas we invested in some of the human wrist bands that are reflective for joggers and put them on the horses legs. Cost about 10$ a pair and very useful.

My costume ended up a bit rushed (thats me, the Grim Reaper) but as it got dark it was still pretty effective!

As for our haul: two lollipops, two Werthers Original and a chocolate eyeball. Next year: must do better

Nice phantom flysheet horse

I painted faces all night long but I did get each horse their own little pumpkin and poured their grain in it.
