Hi To All, Im New

Post by Icarus on Wed Dec 10, 2008 10:46 am

Hello,
Thought i had better introduce myself!
I live in south Oxfordshire and own a three year old pure bred Arabian.
I am begining to start him myself at the moment as i feel he is ready, i had planned to send him away but i feel that he wouldnt be happy trusting anyone else.So i am quite happy to pootle along slowly on our own.
I plan to keep him bitlles for the forseable future. Very Happy

Hello, and welcome here!

Your horse looks lovely! Have you always been around horses? Good for you for taking on the training yourself!

Good for you! Why send a horse away if you feel up to doing it yourself? Go for it!
I'm in Somerset, I have a Welsh cob and her daughter by a Spanish stallion - and this is my mate Whompy in my avatar, he belongs to a friend

Hello. Good to see more joining the revolution as always!

We really should get a list of trainers that will train a horse completely bitless.

Hi and welcome - I have started several horses but Trelawny is the only one who has been started bitless, barefoot and treeless - I was uneducated back then and knew in my heart that the bit, and shoes, were wrong, but didnt listen to my gut, instead listened to my logic which has got me into trouble more than once!
Now that I listen to my instinct it has made a huge difference to my relationship with Trelawny, and the other horses I look after. You are absolutely right to take it steady - go at the pace that suits you - and there is plenty of help, support and advice from a very knowledgable group of people on this forum.... most importantly have fun!!

Hi great that people like you with lively horses are taking on the bitless challenge. I have such a good steady pony so people say 'it's alright for you but my horse would be unmanageable if I used that'. I'm the only person I know who rides bitless so will quote you if things go well as you start your beautiful arabian.
