Driving? Empty Driving?

Not sure if this is the right place or not for this, but I will pop it here anyway.

I have a section a who was ridden up until last year when she went lame and then got another attack of lami, we have just managed to sort out her feet and she will be coming back into work. I don't want to ride her anymore because of the lameness/lami issue, and she isn't a real fan of kids, but she loves to drive, I on the other hand could live without driving, as in all honesty it scares me.
I broke her to drive myself, I didn't just throw everything on and go, I took it slowly, I bought books and DVD's and I have a tendancy to research things to hell before I do anything. She already long reined like a pro so I introduced the harness, then we introduced light things to pull (a bucket so she could hear the noise), then a pallet, all with me holding them on a rope I could drop to set them free if she didn't like them. I then introduced a cart, just a chepo one that was a little bit big for her, I put it to her and walked her a few steps, then off, then on again, and she took to it all like a duck to water, I sat in the cart about 5 times, once in the field, and the rest up and down my private road. I did try a small canter in the field, but that put me off, lol, I don't mind walking and trotting, but the thought of not being able to get out the cart if something happens scares me. I sold my cart when pony was lame and I moved fields and lost my storage space.
I drive her bitless, blinkerless and whipless, just like when I ride her, she is very happy that way and I have no intention of changing it.
I really want a saddlechariot, but the price I can't do at the moment. Anyone have a saddlechariot or drive bitless?

I drive bitless and train horses to drive bitless.
I think the most important thing is your horse that is driving should know WOAH like the most important thing you can teach a driving horse. To stop and stand like a brick wall. The safest cart beyond a saddle chariot would be an easy entry. You aren't trapped by bars or anything like that. I've made a few quick departures out of my easy entry cart to sort a problem then hopped back in with no problem whatsoever.
Heres a good example of how an easy entry is http://www.miniaturehorsetackshop.com/EasyEntryBl.jpg
